FOOTBALL ROOKIE CLASS INFORMATION
The WVSSAC will be implementing a new training procedure for new football officials for the upcoming 2022 football season.
Training will consist of online learning (Football Modules to be taken on the new officials own time) in-person field work through your local association, and five hour discussion with your local association. There will be no in-person classroom sessions being conducted. The price of the Football Module is $45.00. State fees for first year officials will be waived. Link below

Two links will be posted on the WWW.WVSSAC.ORG website the first week of June that must be viewed by the incoming official.
The RefPrep Football Officiating 101 module link and a link recorded by the WVSSAC Football Clinician are the online learning modules that new officials must view. A "Certificate of Completion" of the RefPrep module must be presented to the local association along with the Physical Form to be turned into the WVSSAC office for registration by September 1, 2022
The registration age for a WVSSAC Officiating License has been lowered from 18 to 16. Officials under the age of 18 will be authorized to officiate Middle School contests provided they are with veteran officials.
Field work begins July 11 at the Chesapeake, Ohio high school football field starting at 6:00 p.m.
Applicants must be sixteen years of age and older for the WVSSAC requirements. Both states have provisions for students that are still in high school, who are allowed to register, but are limited to the types of games they may officiate. West Virginia certification also requires proof of a physical examination.
